We are in week three of our nine-week Emotional Wellness Course. It has been proven that weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle includes more than just knowing what to eat and how to change our diet. Most people who manage to lose weight have a difficult time keeping it off and often times gain it back within one year. In this course we are learning why we choose to live the lifestyle we do. Our choices are determined not only by bad habits and lack of knowledge, but by our overwhelming emotions. The choices we make are largely determined by how we are feeling at any one particular moment. This is where emotional eating comes into play. Recognizing these emotions and learning to regulate them in a healthy way is our goal. In this lifestyle change course, we dig a little deeper and look at our thought patterns and messages we consciously and subconsciously tell ourselves. These thoughts continuously ‘feed’ our emotions. Recognizing unhealthy thought patterns and replacing them with healthy messages helps us to regulate our emotions. Our beliefs and thoughts are determined by so many things. They are determined by our childhood, the culture we grew up in, events that have happened to us and by our relationships. In the final weeks of our program, we explore how our life experiences and choices make us unique and interesting. This contributes to our sense of life purpose and meaning. This exciting program perfectly complements M’lis lifestyle change programs and will soon be available for you to use with your clients. Look for the written versions to be available this spring.
